How to get licensed in the state of New York as a nurse practitioner
The New York State Education Department (NYSED) accepts NP licensure applications via mail or through their online licensing portal. Separate applications are required for RN licensure and NP certification.

Licensure CME & Renewal
NP certification is permanent once issued. However, registration and RN license renewal are required every 3 years, with continuing education strongly recommended per national board standards.
